29/11/2022: New Shooting Venue, Bothamsall
It is with regret and at the same time some excitement that Welbeck Archers report that we have moved location. After being part of the Welbeck Estate for over 50 years we were presented with conditions in the latest agreement imposed on us by the estate that made our continuance there impossible. Negotiations with them proved fruitless and so we began a search for a new field/facility. We are please to announce that this has been found and is now up and running.
Our New location is on the old cricket field at Bothamsall.
Post code DN22 8DX.

Lat/Long. 53.251707N. 0.981047W
The Trust that administers the field has been extremely welcoming and we look forwards to a happy and longterm partnership. The new field is fully compliant with the regulations and we will therefore be able to resume our WRC status competitions. We will in the future also be putting on field and Clout events. These can now be practiced as part of our normal weekly schedule.
During summertime we shoot Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5pm and all day Saturdays and Sundays from 9am until dusk.
During wintertime we shoot all day Saturday and Sunday from 9am until dusk, plus once a week indoors at Cuckney Cricket training facility from 7pm – 9 pm on a Tuesday.
We are now open for business and any visiting archers or clubs who wish to contact us are able to do so via this web site. Anyone considering joining the club is always welcome to come along and view our facilities.

26/04/2022: Welbeck Archers Donations in memory of Christine, and a special award for Christine from Archery GB
We received the following from British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK after the donation we made in memory of Christine.
Ref: 8-24256221
Dear Welbeck Archers,
Thank you for your recent gift of £2,000.00 In Memory of Mrs. Christine Gascoigne. We hope it gives you some comfort to know that your kindness will make a real difference in the future by helping to fund our pioneering care and research programmes, bringing us ever closer to beating heart disease.
Since 1961, the efforts of supporters like you have brought about some of the greatest breakthroughs in medical history – including pacemakers, heart transplants and statins for lowering cholesterol.
As a result, the way we diagnose and treat heart disease has changed forever. Thanks to you, it’s still changing and getting better all the time. As you’ll understand though, there remains a long way to go, and that’s why we’re so grateful you chose to support the British Heart Foundation by giving in memory of loved one.
Please remember that we are here if you need to talk, you can call our Heart Helpline between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. We also have a special resource for children to help them with bereavement. So if there’s ever any way we can help you or your family, please call 0300 330 3311 or visit bhf.org.uk/inmemory.
We’d like to thank you once again for thinking of us – we really appreciate
your support.
Yours sincerely,
Amanda Pullen

Dear Welbeck Archers
One day we will beat cancer. Your very kind donation of £2000 in memory of Christine Gascoigne will help us make that day happen. On behalf of everyone at Cancer Research UK, thank you. We appreciate that you may have included a personal story with your very kind donation and ordinarily we would recognise this in our response. Due to the unprecedented current circumstances we are not able to do this but did want to make sure that you knew we had received your donation safely and that we are extremely grateful
Cancer sadly affects 1 in 2 people in the UK, but your generosity means that we can bring real hope to those diagnosed with cancer and their families. Through our research, we’ve seen ten year survival rates double from one in four 40 years ago, to two in four today.
While this is a significant achievement, there remain many patients for whom outcomes are particularly poor. Our ambition is to accelerate our work so that three in four people survive the disease within the next 20 years. Our research, entirely funded by people like you, will ensure that more people survive cancer; which is why we are so grateful for your support.
If you have chosen to hear from us, we’ll keep you updated about the progress we are making and the ways you can support our work in the future. If you would prefer not to hear from us, and haven’t told us this already, you can contact us on 0300 123 1022 or at supporter.services@c~.org.uk to let us know. If there is anything else we can do for you please call us on the number above or you can visit us at www.cruk.org.
Together we will beat cancer.
Yours sincerely,
Trudy Stammer
Head of Volunteer Fundraising
Archery GB also awarded Christine a Special Recognition award in coaching, which you can see here.
18/02/2022: Four Seasons shoot rescheduled
On occasions as an organizer of events difficult decisions have to be made that will not please all archers. Due to the extreme weather forecast this weekend it is with regret that I have no other option but to cancel the Four Seasons shoot on Sunday for the safety of all and defer it to the following Sunday 27th Feb. Registration same time 10-10.30.
Sorry for the late notification but I had everything crossed that the shoot could continue but nature has had the last word.
Normal weekend shooting continues for those brave soles that wish to do so.

13/12/2021: Please do not park on the field
It is quite apparent that some members are unaware or choose to ignore the request not to park on the field at present due to the poor condition.
We have already lost one venue, please do not give the Estate reason to move us from Lady Margaret Hall field.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE FIELD until further notice.
Thank you,
John Crome
Secretary
19/08/2021: In Memory of Christine Gascoigne
Dear Friends,
As we could only have 30 people in attendance for Christine’s funeral, both family and club members decided that when covid restrictions were eased or lifted for larger gatherings that we would have a celebration of life memorial competition and fun day.
Christine gave her time freely. She was always patient, coaching both new beginners and Olympians with the same all giving gentile manner. Her style of coaching inspired her archers to achieve their potential in archery and life.
Christine’s birth place was in Stratford upon Avon Warwickshire, so the round to be held will be a short Warwick. 2 dozen at 50 & 40 yds, we are hoping the shorter distance will help many of you that are out of practice.
This is to be a fun day and for none competitors we are putting on a have ago with both normal and 3D targets. After the 50 yards at about 12 noon, although this may depend on how many lost arrows need to be found?
Christine’s Bowyers have made out of Oak a Memorial bench in her honour and this will be unveiled in its glory between 12 and 1 pm.
Charge your glasses for a toast to Chrissie, our Coach and mentor.
We Welbeck Archers are hosting a competition on the Lady Margaret Hall sports field Welbeck Estate. In Memory of Christine Gascoigne on Sunday 26th September 2021.
As Christine’s commitment in archery is legend, after this first competition it will be turned into an annual one. Aiming at up and coming archers both young and old, the winner of the trophy will be the highest score for an archer that has never won an archery competition before.
